Flapjacks
Olivia is now 10 months old! Wow! Time flies!
She went to the dr’s last week, and her latest stats are puny! Haha, I love it! It’s kind of like when you get a puppy, and you wish they could just stay a small cute little puppy forever. Welp, yeah, that’s Olivia! She’s my little munchkin. So at 10 months, she is 26.5″ tall (9%), 18lbs (24%) and has a relatively big ole head that is 17.24″ (35%)
She is on the move though! She’s really picked up this whole crawling thing fast, and she’s a quick little sucker! She’s discovered the dog food, and thinks it’s fun to splash around in Cash’s water bowl. I had to go fishing for some kibble in her mouth the other day, she wasn’t too happy about that, and she had stink breath all day! It’s so funny to see her crawl around cuz she’s so little. The other night I was making dinner and John was in the living room, so she was doing lap through the kitchen into the eating area and back through the living room. She’s stop when she got just in the kitchen doorway, sit down, turn around and play a few rounds of peek-a-boo with John. It’s so weird how much things change in so little time. She’s really a little person now.
Speaking of change…so when we went to the doctors last week I had a big ole serious conversation about this whole breastfeeding/bottle issue we’re having. I’m five and a half months pregnant now, she’s got 4 gigantic teeth on top now as well as the two on the bottom, my boobs are ridiculously hurty and I really need to stop nursing before my next appointment in February. But Olivia just is not having it! I don’t know if it’s the bottle or the formula or what her problem, but she will have nothing to do with anything but boobies when it comes to milk. So the Dr.Griffn just said too bad, just stop. Have someone else put her to bed and feed her. Let her cry as long as it takes, but just stop, she’ll get over it.
So that night when bed time came around, I fixed a bottle (sippy cup really) with formula. I decided that I wanted to give it a try. So we did our normal bed time routine, we went in my bedroom, turned down the lights and instead of whipping out the booby I stuck that bottle right in her mouth, and she didn’t even flinch. She sucked down 7oz of formula without any fuss! WTF?!? I have been agonizing over this for literally, MONTHS! She has screamed and cried, pushed and punched, kicked and squirmed to get away from this same exact bottle filled with the same exact formula for how long? And now all of a sudden it’s fine, not even fine, it’s the best thing ever and she now gets all excited when she sees the bottle!
This is the kind of thing I think I’m going to struggle with as a parent. In-dependency. (Is that a word? It sounds weird…) But yeah, I guess she decided that she’s going to do this now. She’s cool with the bottle. Just like how one day she just decided that she didn’t want to be swaddled any more. So, within days she lays on the floor by herself, holds her own bottle and drinks the formula. How did she get to be such a big girl??
Btw, this new revelation that Olivia has acquired has left me with the flappiest flap jacks ever! Not fun or cute! Never thought that would happen to me. Sigh….
Finally!
There’s movement! Baby #2 has started kicking like crazy. She’s gone from zero to sixty in a split second! I haven’t really felt any movement from the new one, atleast none that couldn’t have been mistaken for gas, but last night, she started really movin! Even John felt her a couple times! Very cool. This is my favorite part of pregnancy.
Olivia has also started movin. Finally! She’ll be 10 months next week, and she just started crawling. We didn’t even think that she’d crawl at all, we thought she’d just go straight to walking. But in order to get from one thing to another, so that she can pull herself up, she finally figured out that she can use her hands and knees. I don’t think that walking is too far way though. Anyways, she’s very proud of herself. It’s super cute.
Here are some crawling pics, and some cute pictures of O and Cash. She just loves him, and he does a really good job of putting up with her….

She’s a drama queen already! Check out the placement of her hand!

It’s a girl!

It’s a…..
GIRL!
We’re having another girl! Jeez, did it take long enough for me to write this post?? (We found out last Wednesday) Thank gawd it’s a girl, Olivia has so much clothes that I’m glad to be able to really put them to good use. And now if I buy her anything new, I don’t feel as bad because I’ll be able to use it again for #2!
Anyways, things around here have been hectic. Olivia has been an uber handful. She is getting all four top teeth in, and it is pure hell. As of now, she only has her two bottom teeth. Her top left side incisor has actually broken through her gums, and the top right incisor is just about to. I hope the two middle teeth catch up, or she’s going to look like a vampire or a jack-o-lantern! You can actually see the white of the two middle teeth just under the gums, but nothing has broken through yet. Does this teething thing get any easier??
Other than the teething thing, Olivia is doing great. She’s walking herself around holding on to anything she can, including the dog. Her crawling skills are also getting better; we didn’t think she’d crawl at all, but she’s figuring it out just to get to a place so she can pull herself up and walk. We’ve been working on some new “tricks”, we’ve got about two and a half more moths for her to master, “How old are you?” and she holds up her pointer finger. It’s more of a point then a “one” right now, but (hopefully) it’ll get there. I’ve been brainstorming about her birthday party, but I’m trying not to stress about it. First birthdays are a big deal in Korean culture, and John’s parents want a big ole thing. They are giving us a pretty decent amount of money, I think to ensure that they get what they want. They wanted to do it at an Asian buffet, which I am whole heartedly against. I don’t know why, but I think that that’s just sort of tacky. And, well, I’ll admit it, I’m sort of snobby and controlling. BUT, I think I’ve come to a pretty good compromise. Well, I’m getting to one. I’ve decided to serve Hawaiian BBQ and then do sort of a Luau theme, it suits the Korean palate as well, so all those Korean people will have food they enjoy too, right? Right. Anyways, I’m torn as to where to have it though, please, any suggestions would be soooo helpful. We’re thinking of about 80 people.
Anyhoot. Well, since I lost my job in early December we’ve been really struggling to make ends meet. And being pregnant doesn’t really scream “Hire Me!”, so I’ve started my own little business with the Pampered Chef. I officially started last week, and my first show is this Thursday. I’m excited. My mom’s cousin started doing this a few months ago, and my mom and I hosted a show in November. They have the best kitchenware, I was so impressed! And the benefits of hosting a show is ridiculous! It was a small show, less than 10 people, but I still earned 2 items at 50% off and got over $100 worth of free stuff of my choice And the monthly host special was 60% off stoneware, so I got the super awesome large pizza stone for like $10!! I also bought some really nice knives, which is seriously a godsend. I never realized how crappy my knives were, and what a big difference a nice, sharp knife can make in terms of cooking prep time! I also got a sleuth of other cool tools. But, anyways, I’m don’t want this blog to turn into a sales pitch, but this is what really convinced me to become a consultant. The Pampered Chef stuff is of such quality, and hosting is really easy and beneficial, that I figure it can’t be that hard to sell, right? I mean, if you need or want any kitchen tools, why wouldn’t you host a show?? You get soooo much for your money! (If you are at all interested, drop me a line and we can set something up)
Okay, well that really wasn’t meant as a pitch, although, it does sound like one, but really, even if this wasn’t my new job, I’d talk about it the same!
Well, I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and a Happy New Year! 2009 will be a great year! My resolution? Don’t get pregnant! We decided that after this baby, we’re not going to add anything new to FamiLeezy for a while. We realized that we got Cash in 2007, had Olivia in 2008, and will have #2 in 2009. We’re nuts, I know. 2009 will be filled with enough excitement, so we’re going to make 2010 a quiet, low profile year to just enjoy it all.
We wish you a very happy 2009!
